Almost weekly we get asked, "what do you do at OmniSport?"

While it seems like a simple enough question, it's often hard to give a clear cut answer because frankly, we do things differently and more progressively here than most places. To the average gym goer or non-member, our programs and philosophies can sound out of the box and that's ok...that's why you're searching the vast reaches of the internet for the answers to YOUR health and fitness needs.

I'll be frank and tell you that it's really interesting that people who think we are a traditional gym, think we are expensive and the people who think we are a personal training studio are delighted with how affordable we are for what you receive in return. However, we really aren't any of those things...

We are a hybrid of gym and studio; where there is no open gym times or "come on your own" and "do your own thing" approach. Everything here is scheduled with a coach, planned, programmed and detail orientated specifically for you. You are a unique person, with your own movement, life schedule, injury history, medical history and your program should reflect that.

Because here, it isn't only your goal, it is OUR goal. By "our", we mean it's not just you and the coaching staff, but also the community of members who actively take a part in supporting each other. This isn't just another gym; this is a community of success where there is no "I", only "WE", "OUR" and "TEAM".

Now I will admit, walk into any local gym and you'll see the same thing, barbells, kettlebells, ropes, squat racks (that Planet place excluded...), etc., etc. They may even attempt to run our similar systems; however, we will always be one step ahead. I truly believe that while we will always have the best programming, most individualized attention and the most advanced equipment, that's not what sets us apart. Those things can be mimicked eventually, but our culture, community and the support we have here cannot and that is what truly sets us apart.

Furthermore, we don't have swipe cards because you are more than a number here. You are a team member with a name we will all know and goals we all will get to know and strive towards.

We coach you every step of the way.

We fully believe the philosophy that because you rode in a boat, it doesn't make you a sailor. Because you flew in an airplane, that doesn't make you a pilot and because you blow a whistle or people pay you for fitness advice or you tell people what to do, that doesn't make you a coach.

We empower, educate and motivate you every step of the way to your goals on the expert path we've laid out for you.

Simply for that reason, my staff and I are called coaches or fitness professionals. We aren't typical personal trainers, using that job as a stepping stone for something else, waiting for something better to come along. This is what we've chosen to spend our careers doing. An adage we like to use is, "horses have trainers and people have coaches." We want to be your coach!

Changing your life through fitness isn't an elaborate and complicated process, but it isn't a cookie cutter program or one size fits all solution as we've been conditioned to believe either. It can't be done in a 24-Day Cleanse, with overpriced supplements and not putting in the hard work. There are no quick fixes. There are no shortcuts, though people will try to sell you them.

If you think that fitness and truly getting better is as easy as hopping on a few machines, jogging/low intensity-long duration "cardio", doing a dance class or banging sticks on the ground, I honestly and humbly submit, "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!" I am sorry but it is true - I can show you the science.

Expect more. Demand more.

You are a unique person, with an individual and unique movement capability, injury history, medical history, limitations, tightness, hypermobilities, asymmetries, strengths, weaknesses and everything in between. And that is what makes us great and beautiful but it is exactly what makes one size fits all and non-individualized approaches, completely ineffective and why we take all of that into account in order to serve you the absolute best that is available, that day and the following days as well.

Fitness should be profoundly satisfying, empowering and lift you up - while making you move better, feel better and accomplish whatever it is you wish it to serve.

It should not break you down, make you feel like crap, move worse and feel achy. You should leave a workout feeling like you did some work but ultimately better than when you walked in.

Thinking you have to do irresponsible things and beat yourself into the ground during workouts to get results is misinformation sold to you to make you feel inadequate. Seeing someone in a puddle of death on the floor after a workout that they cannot recover from and did their body more harm than good is not only bullshit but it isn't what works better either.

Anyone can make you tired but who can make you better? We want you dreaming epic dreams that threaten to swallow you whole. We want you to have goals, big hairy audacious goals and we are the place to get you there.

And that is exactly what we do here at OmniSport: Fitness and Performance, and is the long answer to the original question.
